Head Massage

30 minsKSh 2,000

A soothing scalp, face and neck massage that quiets a busy mind. Excellent for tension headaches, eye strain and difficulty sleeping.

  • Relieves headaches
  • Calms the mind
  • Improves sleep
  • Reduces eye strain

What the head massage actually is

A calming 30-minute scalp, face, neck and shoulder treatment, drawing on Indian head massage. The therapist works the scalp in slow circles, releases the muscles at the base of the skull, and eases the jaw, temples and brow — the places a busy mind physically clenches.

It is done seated or lying, with or without oil. Without oil it fits neatly into a working day; with warm oil it becomes a deeply restorative evening treatment that also conditions the hair.

Who it suits best

  • Tension headaches and migraine-prone guests
  • Screen fatigue and eye strain
  • Jaw clenching and teeth grinding
  • Anyone who cannot switch their thoughts off at night
  • Guests who want deep calm without undressing

Benefits you can expect

Headache relief

Work at the base of the skull and along the temples addresses the muscular tension behind most everyday headaches.

A quieter mind

Slow scalp work is remarkably effective at slowing racing thoughts — this is our go-to for guests who arrive wired.

Less eye strain

Gentle pressure around the brow and temples relieves the ache that builds after a day of screens.

Better sleep

Booked in the evening, it is one of the most reliable ways to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep.

What to expect in the room

  1. 1You choose oil or no oil — no oil if you are heading back to work.
  2. 2The session starts with the shoulders and neck to release the base before the scalp is touched.
  3. 3Slow circular scalp work follows, section by section across the whole head.
  4. 4Face work — temples, brow, jaw — closes the sequence, with the lightest pressure of the treatment.
  5. 5You sit quietly for a minute or two at the end before standing.

How we set the pressure

Light on the face, medium on the scalp, firmer through the neck and shoulders. If you are sensitive to scalp pressure or have a headache already in progress, tell the therapist and everything is dialled down from the start.

Aftercare

  • If oil was used, leave it in for an hour or two before washing — it conditions the hair and scalp.
  • Rest your eyes from screens for a while if the session was for eye strain.
  • Drink water and, where possible, keep the rest of the evening quiet.

Booking this in Westlands

The no-oil version is popular with Westlands professionals who want a genuine reset between meetings, and the oiled evening version with guests staying in hotels along Waiyaki Way. Either can be booked at the studio or brought to your home or office.

Often booked alongside back massage, aromatherapy massage and foot massage. You can also see the full massage menu or our spa packages.
