  • Releases chronic tension
  • Improves posture
  • Speeds recovery
  • Eases back & shoulder pain

What the deep tissue massage actually is

Deep tissue massage works slowly and deliberately through the outer layers of muscle to reach the fibres and connective tissue underneath. Rather than gliding across the body, the therapist sinks into a restricted area, waits for it to soften, and follows the tissue as it lets go. It is a therapeutic treatment first and a relaxing one second — though most guests find the pace surprisingly calming.

The work concentrates on the places modern life loads up: the upper trapezius, between the shoulder blades, the neck, the lower back, the hips and glutes. Sessions run 60 minutes, which is enough time to treat two or three regions properly instead of skimming the whole body.

Who it suits best

  • Desk workers with stiff necks, tight shoulders and low-back ache
  • Anyone carrying a knot that stretching alone will not shift
  • Drivers and commuters who sit for long stretches in Nairobi traffic
  • People returning to training after a long break
  • Guests who have had lighter massage and want something more targeted

Benefits you can expect

Releases long-held tension

Sustained pressure lets guarded muscle fibres release rather than brace, which is why deep tissue reaches tension that repeated light massage tends to leave behind.

Better posture at the desk

Freeing the chest, neck and upper back lets the shoulders sit where they belong, so the same eight-hour working day costs your body less.

Fewer tension headaches

A large share of everyday headaches begin in the neck and jaw. Careful work through those attachments often quiets them within a session or two.

Faster recovery

Improving circulation through worked tissue helps clear the heaviness that follows hard training or a long week of sitting.

What to expect in the room

  1. 1A short conversation first: where the tension lives, what you do all day, any injuries, and what you want to leave feeling.
  2. 2You undress to your comfort level and lie under a sheet. You are covered at all times, with only the area being worked uncovered.
  3. 3The therapist warms the tissue with broader strokes before moving into slower, deeper work on the priority areas.
  4. 4Pressure is checked out loud at the start of each new region, then adjusted as your body responds.
  5. 5The session closes with lighter, integrating strokes and a few minutes of stillness before you get up.

How we set the pressure

Deep does not mean painful. The right pressure feels firm and productive — the kind you can breathe through. Your therapist starts moderate, builds gradually and asks for a simple read from you along the way. Say the word and it lightens immediately; nothing is pushed through a wince.

Aftercare

  • Drink water through the rest of the day — muscle work moves fluid around and hydration helps you feel clearer.
  • Keep the next hour gentle if you can. A slow walk is fine; a heavy gym session usually is not.
  • A warm shower or bath in the evening extends the release you felt on the table.
  • Mild tenderness for a day after deeper work is normal. Sharp pain is not — message us and we will adjust next time.
